COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY
Dr. Khan is committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Dr. Khan is wholeheartedly against:
-
Racism
-
Sexism
-
Homophobia
-
Transphobia
-
Xenophobia
-
Islamophobia
-
Anti-Semitism
-
Any form of oppression or exploitation
Dr. Khan hopes to create a safe and brave space for you in therapy to examine how these forces affect you. Trauma from oppression is real and can cause symptoms of anxiety, depression and rage, which you may be blaming yourself for - instead of understanding how these systems of oppression affect you. The goal is not to have you conform or assimilate to the dominate culture - but instead to embrace your authentic self and empower to make decisions that are best for you.
Please note that I will not remain neutral when I hear about these forms of oppression or abuse. Silence and Neutrality is Violence. It is my value to acknowledge and name this in therapy with intent of empowerment. I may not be the right therapist for you if you do not share these values.
Because there are very few psychologists who fit my demographics and specialties, priority for therapy is given to People of Color, LGBTQIA+ clients particularly Trans clients, and Progressive or Non-Traditional Muslim clients who are looking for the treatment I provide. This is an equity initiative to help correct the imbalance in the mental health world.
We acknowledge that we are the Indigenous Land of Lenapehoking (Lenni-Lenape).
