Wrong Question!
How can I benefit from therapy is a better question.
Personally, I believe everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives. However, you are not meant to be in therapy forever. Therapy works best when you have something you would like to work on.
The first signs may manifest as symptoms of anxiety or depression. This is a clue that means that something is not right in your life. In therapy you can work to figure out what is going on to help relieve these symptoms. Underlying causes could be a history of trauma, a recent loss, a break up, family difficulties, relationship difficulties, loneliness and lack of connections, identity questioning, not being your true self, feeling unfulfilled or not have meaning in your life, etc.
All of these stressors, life events, or history can impact you today and have made you lost your way. Together in therapy we can find your way to building the life you want.
Therapy is not for people that are crazy or does not mean something is wrong with you. You would never ask do I need to see a doctor if you had cancer or heart problems. You would just get the help you needed. Therapy is a way of taking care of yourself and committing to being the person you want to be and living the life you dreamed of.
